Biometric evidence and why is it so ridiculous?

My wife has already given her biometric information when applying for the EEA family permit. Now that we are applying for settled status (pre-settled in her case) she needs to do it AGAIN according to the application. We checked online, and the only available appointments at UKVCAS centres are... either non-existent, or very far away (we live on the south coast, and the closest available appointment centre with PAID (£100) appointments is Cardiff). Is there any way around this? Please advise.

you can book free appointment at other centers as well. does not have to be cardiff one. but unfortunately you have to submit the biometric which is the core requirement for your application to be consider.

As long as I know, appointments at centres are not free. My nearest centre (15 m away) would charge me £18.

there are plenty free appointments available to main centers. for example in London its croydon.
may be small centers have few of them which might have been taken by others.

Do you know that for sure that they don't charge or are just guessing?

Do you have to take supporting documents with you for the biometric appointment or is uploading at home sufficient?

Hi folks, same situation over here.
Applied a few minutes ago, got a number and got rerouted to a sopra steria site, where the only available slots are in Croydon for around £100 each.
Does this ring a bell to anyone?
Tx!

A few no fee appointments in Croydon for next week opened up.
Nothing on Kensington and Victoria from what I saw.

No, you're getting it all wrong. "Free" as "you don't pay for it". There is a £14 flat fee for using the scanning centres. All centres, including London.

Folks, for anyone who has been to one of the centers, I have an appointment for Friday in Croydon.
I am taking my Passport, my residence card and my wedding certificate.
Not sure what else they may need, has anyone been already and can probably tell me what they ask for?
Tx,
MM

Thanks Bunny!
I called the resoluion centre, and they suggested that on top of that I also bring my marriage certificate to my sponsor, my residence card and council tax bills for as far back as I can go, just to make sure I have a valid way of showing how long I've been here.
