REPLACEMENT PR STATUS

Is it possible to apply for a PR Biometric resident card whilst still having PR vignette sticker in the passport.

The issue is that my friend's passport is a refugee passport which has expired and it cannot be accepted as evidence to sit for the B1 test for a naturalisation application. They have refused it because the passport has expired.

He cannot renew his passport from the UK because it is a Czech refugee passport. He cannot travel back to Czech because the passport has expired.

So is it possible to apply for the BRP version of PR to use in support of B1 test, then apply for naturalisation?

With PR, one does not get a replacement card. One needs to reapply for PR in the usual manner. That is to say that your friend will have to make a PR application de novo.

A PR card/vignette only signifies that the Home Office is satisfied that your friend possessed PR on the day it was issued.
