pre-settled EEA citizen's civil partner question

Hi,

I am currently in the UK but my tier 2 sponsorship is soon to expire. I am from outside of the EEA. My partner is an EEA citizen with a pre-settled status living in the UK (less than 3 years).

Would it be possible for me to obtain an EEA Family Permit through my partner in order to stay in the UK? I understand this permit must be completed outside of the UK, however I would have no problem leaving UK temporarily to obtain this permit.

Also what would be the procedure if this route is possible?

Thank you.

MW

you do not have to leave the country . You can apply now pre settled status and switch to eu route. Remember when you switch your clock will reset so if future when you apply for settled status home office will count 5 years from pre settled issued date

But i am only a couple of months away from securing my 10 years ILR and do not wish to reset my 10 years clock.

How long have you lived together??

If you are unmarried, you are considered an extended family member and the rules are slightly different.

If you are married or in civil partnership (your post is not clear on this), then you are a direct family member.

We are not married, but we would consider this as an option. We have been living together for 2 years.
