Settled status decision tine

Post by Alex0226 » Thu May 30, 2019 7:22 pm

Can someone please educate me if this is normal. I have applied for settled status since Feb 16, i emailed them to know the update of my application before I got a call from HO on the 7th this month and since then, no letter no information. It's been over 3 months now whereas they promised decision within 2 weeks. Please is this normal or I wait a little bit more to make their decision.

Are you an EU national or family member of an EU national?

Why did Home office called you ? this is too long . when was the last time you called eu settlement team? You should complain to your MP

You send wrong application .. I looked at your timeline you married in July 2015 and came to the UK in July 2015 so you have to count 5 years from July 2015 ... You are only eligible for pre settled status..

may be that's why it's taking ages?

Yes they called me if I'm happy with pre settled status until my marriage is 5 years which is next year and I told my caseworker that I'm fine with that and since then no letter no information

Pre-Settled status is just placebo. Just wait until you can prove 5 years and then make a new application for full status.

You really need to complain

Everyone I know who received a call from home office regarding downgrading status from settled to pre settled received their decision by email in
1 - 48 hours

This is why I confused. Someone said i should call my MP that it's not fair and another person suggested i should wait till when I'm 5 years in marriage. These two has been my thought but can someone genuinely advise me on these 2 options please?

Not everyone gets it.

Read my case here. 5 months and counting, and now application is officially on hold. I am actually just now opening a new thread to see how many other people are in the same situation.

I think it is up to individuals to decide when it is time to complain and when it is not.

I applied fully aware that I was very likely not entitled to Settled Status, and also fully aware that the deadline for mandatory applications is December 2020. I already hold a residence Card valid until then, and in that sense, my case is in no way urgent. MPs need to respond to all their constituents, many of whom are in desperate circumstances, and in no way I want to require time form my MP in dealing with my case, when it really can wait.

Note that what merits an escalation here is not the fact that I still don't have a decision (like most other people with RCs, I have around 18 months still left with a valid document). What makes this interesting is the fact that the application is now officially on hold while the resolution centre receives an update on some new policy. That's what I want clarity on. I'm not asking for a resolution of my case, as others have demanded, I'm not asking for a useless Pre-Settled status now (which is the likeliest outcome if I insist on quick resolution). I am asking for clarity on why they are keeping some applications on hold, and whether that means we might get Settled Status.

So no, I do not think I should have complained before, as I had no real grounds for a justified escalation.
