Hi
I am Turkish, resident in the UK, married to dual EEA/UK citizen. I will apply to my residence card using his EEA rights.

My question is: I need to register in Turkish embassy and change my surname and get a new passport. But it’s a loong process! Can I apply for residence card using the current passport with old surname? Do I need to apply with my new name and new passport?

If I change my surname after issuing the residence card, is it going to be an issue?

I urgently need help!

Do you?

Can't comment on Turkish law, but in the UK, you can keep your maiden name after marriage all your life if you want.

If you decide not to change your name, which is perfectly legal in the UK, then yes.

If you change your legal name, yes.

This is also an option if you absolutely want to change your name, but want to have your residence card soon. You can choose to not change your name for now, do all paperwork in your maiden name; then change your name. You will then need to report your change of name to the HO (and I believe get a new card).

Again, not sure what the practice is in Turkey, but if you are getting married in the UK, you can decide not
to change your name and still be legally married.

Thanks. I didn’t change neither my surname nor the new passport and proceeded like that.

Do you think how long would it take to change my surname and get a new BRC after informing HO?
