Hello

I have been trying to workout the Lounes in order to help someone.

Is it important to consider when the relationship started comparatively to when the British citizenship was acquired?

There are 2 options here:

Option 1:
The relationship started with the EEA national
Later, the EEA national acquired British citizenship

Option 2:
The EEA national acquired the British citizenship
Later, the relationship started with that EEA/UK national

Does it mater at all?

As far as I understand it, it doesn't matter. Look up the original Lounes case - in that very case, the relationship started long after British citizenship was acquired.

Thank you for that. I checked some HO documents and you are right, they refer to the sponsor as a "Qualified UK national". So when the relationship started is not relevant.
