Applying for Settled Status based on previous period

I've just installed the app, in order to submit my application for Settled Status but the automatic check returned that I haven't lived in the UK for 5 years. It is true as I came back in February but I lived here 12 years before. I haven't been away from the country for more than two years.

Is it not possible to apply for Settled Status based on previous period and is my only option to still get the PR?

Yes it is possible but what is your immigration history?

I am sure you must have worked before and I can see you are from EEA state. So its even easy for you!

If you are planning to apply for British citizenship, it may be better to apply for PR with the oldest proof you have of having exercised treaty rights in the UK anyway.

The app will likely not be able to take an absence of more than six months into account as that breaks continuity of residence in case of pre-settled status applicants. So, although it does not break continuity for somebody who has already acquired PR, the app may likely get stuck at that point.

Try applying via a desktop/laptop PC, as that may have different options. Alternatively, apply for a DCPR.
