My friend applied for an EEA family Permit. She works as Teaching assistant in Poland. She wanted to spend August in the UK.She was advised to apply for this kind of visa by the premium helpline UkVI. She has lived in Poland since 2011 and has a 10 year national residence card. She has a 6 year old son who has a Polish passport. She also has a Schengen visa.I wanted to share her timeline She was told by TLS contact that her visa would take 15 working days to process. The website for Warsaw says the same.
June the 17th 2019 application made.
July the 3rd 2019 Biometrics. Only option surrender passport
July the 4th 2019 visa is being prepared to be assessed by a Immigration officer.
It has now been 50 working days since applications and 38 working days since Biometrics.
She has no idea when her passport will be returned. The summer holidays are over. She has contacted the premium contact line on several occasions but given no real information.

Your friend doesn't qualify for an EEA Family permit if she doesn't have an EEA family member living in the UK and who is her sponsor.

The correct application would be a standard visitor visa.

She made the application based on advice received from the UKVI helpline. They said based on her son being an EU citizen she should apply for a family visa. Regardless of this I speedy rejection allowing her to reapply for a visitors visa could have solved a lot of stress. Thanks for your response

She was told that she had to have her son traveling with her when she entered the Uk. I guess she was badly advised

Eligibility

The EU citizen you are joining must either:

Be in the UK already

Be traveling to the UK with you within 6 months of the date of your application.
