Hi a friend was issued settled status but not given BRP card just a letter confirming his settled status and a pin for employers or anyone that needs to confirm to view his status online. Is this something new.

After applying for settled status. He called them for the card and he was told a card will not be issued since he can view online

--- You are an EU Citizien so you won't get any Card by post
---- You are non EU citizen and you already have another VALID RC under EU LAW. You can't have 2 cards
UK Student Visa : 04/2004 - 09/2009
EEA Residence Card : 07/2010 - 7/2015
EU Settled Status: Confirmed on 16th July 2019
Naturalisation : Confirmed on 02nd Oct 2020
Passport Approval : 21st Feb 2021

Just a question, will they give me a card if my spanish RC is in the process of being renewed (expired already) ? I just submitted my pre-settlement application today...

nothing to do with Spanish RC .... You will get one if you don't have a Valid RC issued under EU LAW in the UK
