Non Eu with no BRP and applying EU Settlement schame

May this topic already exit but i do not have that much time to scroll down all pages and find it. Sorry guys
, if anyone can help me would be great
. Is not about me, I've already granted settled status. Friend of mine asked me to help him for apply. He is on his way to me to do an application this evening. He has not BRP, can we apply without it? And if yes how to do identity section?

Online application and use the option of passport as id you will required to go for biometric...simple

Hi, we just finished it, it took us so long to be honest, my-one was so quick as i had BRP. On the end we have booked biometric app in Croydon sopra steria and he payed £100 for that, after biometrics enrol do he still needs to send passport by post or not? Because while we were applying it we ticked box to send by post(we were thinking it will says on the end where to send, but unfortunately it did not showed up anything like this on the end of application)

Normally on the option of going for biometric there will be no need to post your passport.
Passport verification will be done on your appointment date.

You can't change now.. You must send the passport

Where to send? He is going on biometrics enrol on Monday so will they tell him if he asks?

Take the passport with him .. then call EU settlement few days later and they will tell you if he need to send passport or not.

Thank you, we will do that. So if he still need to send probably they will tell him where to send.

As I have understand, we need to send the passport if we don’t have any BRP. The biometrics appointment is just to take the fingerprints. They don’t scan any documents there.
Can someone please clarify it because I have to apply for my non EU spouse also. If we don’t have to send the passport, it will be easier for us as we have to apply for a provisional license as well.

I would appreciate an informed comment on this too! Is there some way for a non-EU family member (of an EU citizen) to keep the passport or at least have its speedy return? This is when applying for the 'pre-settled' status.

Yeah absolutely when I applied mine my passport was scanned at the biometric centre I never posted my passport and all went okay.
To my experience is an option to choose when applying check well before u tick boxes...

Hi! I talked to him last week and was not any news. Probably still nothing otherwise he would call me. I will update here when we got any news from them.
