What date is used to determine settled status

Hi All,

I would like some info on what date is used to determine the 5 yr settled status threshold. I arrived in the UK in 20th Jan 2015 on an EEA family permit. I received my BRP as a dependent family member in April 2016 as I had my first application declined. I applied for an NI number in October 2016 as I didn't really need one before that as I wasn't working or claiming benefits.

What date will the use to determine pre-settled or settled status if I apply at the end of Jan 2020? technically I have been exercising my non EEA family member rights for 5 years then no?

Thank you for the reply. For those that have successfully obtained settled status, does the letter you receive state the date you obtained settled status on it? Apparently you need this for citizenship application 12 months after.

you will be eligible to apply on this date : 20th Jan 2020 you will not get any letter it's just email .
it doesn't mean that you will get your settle statues on this date it might take few days , weeks or even months … depend on your case worker ….
let's say you applied on 20th Jan 2020 and on XX February 2020 you got your settle statues granted by email confirming your application under settlement scheme has been successfully with that date XX February on it . then you will use this date XX February 2020 to count 12 months to apply for naturalization if you Eligible for it.
