Hi all,
My question is regarding this new eu settlement scheme where a person been granted ILR under eu settlement scheme. Does this person’s status still depends on relationship(e.g marriage to eu citizen) or it is independant of that? Also does the ILR under eu settlement scheme is in anyway different from UK ILR?
Thanks your help will be much appreciated.

Hi

Once you have a permanent residence, your residence right doesn't depend on a marriage, work or anything. You have the right to live in UK your entire life if you wish to. There are only a few cases where it can be lost. For instance, if the person leaves the UK for an extended period of time (2 years+)

But divorce, marriage and these kind of things don't affect the permanent residence.

As far as life in the UK is concerned, EEA permanent residence or EU Settlement Scheme "Settled" status as equivalent. They both allow you to live unconditionally in the UK, work, access public funds... etc.

However, the EU Settlement Scheme is not under EEA law. It's a status created as a transition through the Brexit. If we leave with no deal, all EEA cards will cease to be valid in December 2020. Every EEA card holder who wish to live in the UK beyond 2020 has to go through the EU Settlement Scheme.

If you have an EEA permanent residence, you will automatically get a "Settled" status under the EU Settlement Scheme.

Hi I really appreciate when people reply and give help
But why most divert from original question and talk about other things

The person asked specifically about settled stauts not permanent residence

I really appreciate your response but my questions mostly remained unaswered.
I understand that the permanent residence was in past which is somehow replaced with eu settlement scheme (settled staus i e ILR under eu settlement scheme) but after getting this does this status remain conditional on a relationship to eu citizen?
As this is called ILR under eu settlement scheme and not just the ILR .
Thanks
