My spouse visa

I would love to have your input in my situation please.

I am getting married in January ( :D ), I am an EU citizen (French), I have been living continuously in the UK since 2013, I have a settled EU status already (ILR), I am a full time employee and I am meeting the financial requirements.

My wife is a none EU citizen and we want to live together in the UK. I have looked online and I think I am meeting all the requirements described in the Gov website but I want to know what more evidences I need to provide to support my case.

I have read in some websites that it is useful to share my wedding pictures and my messages with my wife (whatsapp, Facebook, snagchat or instagram), most of these messages are in Arabic since we both speak Arabic, so do I need to translate it to English?

Few last questions:
1. How long roughly will the process take?
2. Will the brexit (soft or hard) on the 31st of Oct impact my case?
3. Should I attempt to do the application myself the first time before seeking specialist help (it seems most people are doing it by them self when I check online)?

Thanks a lot in advance for the help

Hi all,

I am applying for EU family visa and I am preparing the evidences but I need some help
1. To show my marriage is real, I will share my texts with my wife (months of texting and call) but they are not in English, do I need to translate all of into English? is there a shortcut to collect all the whatsupp messages?

2. Prove of employment, I have asked my employer to send me an approve of employment and he asked for the address of the Embassy or Organisation the reference is intended. Who is the intend body for this letter?

Thanks a lot in advance for the help.

Cool, I can tell you solutions for your problems!

1. WhatsApp Chats

Go on the contact name and open the chat with your wife>on the right hand corner you will see three little bars >Click on them, you will find a option called *Export* >After that WhatsApp will instruct you to put your email address and after that you can see your whole WhatsApp Chats .

2. You should put UKVI for the organisation and you will have to know where you will be posting your application to?
Liverpool or Sheffield. You can find it easily on Google.

Regarding the translation of the text messages , If I was you I wouldn't do it. As chat logs are optional to send.

One last thing please.
I have completed my wife application online (Gov website) on the 9th of Nov 2019.
I have received an email with the subject "UK visa application: submission confirmation".
The email state

What you need to do next
If you have not already done so, you must return to your application to:
• download and print your supporting documents checklist
• check if you need to have a tuberculosis test
• book and attend an appointment with our commercial partner to provide your documents and biometrics (fingerprints and facial photograph)
You can also:
• download a copy of your application form
• cancel your application

I have not booked the appointment for the biometric for my wife yet, is the next step only to book the appointment and attend the appointment and wait for the decision or is there anything else I need to do meanwhile.
One more question, once my wife does her biometric, and few days later the decision came as approval, will my wife be able to fly to the UK or is there something else we have to wait for or do?

I believe a list of actions is self explanatory? Upload docs, print documents checklist, submit biometrics.

You will need to wait for her passport to be delivered to TLS - this is when you’ll get the answer. If it’s positive, she can travel any time within dates in her clearance visa

I am confused from reading other people family permit time line.

1. Application posted on: xx/xx/xxxx
2, Received by UKVI/HO on: xx/xx/xxxx
3. Payment taken on: xx/xx/xxxx
4. Bio letter received on: xx/xx/xxxx
5. Biometrics Enrolled on: xx/xx/xxxx
6. COA With Work: xx/xx/xxxx
7. Resident Card Received on: xx/xx/xxxx
8. Documents Returned on: xx/xx/xxxx

1. I have applied online and there is no payments. Does this mean I finished the first 3 steps above)?
2. I have not booked my wife Bio appointment yet but I will do it online (book the appointment), should I still expect to receive a later?
3. After we submit my wife Bio, Will we be able to travel to UK once we received the COA?
4. Is step 7 and 8 to be completed in the UK or prior to our arrival to the UK?

Thanks a lot in advance.

I assume you apply from abroad for Family Permit. It means your wife isn’t in the UK yet. The timeline posted seems like an example of something that people do at a later stage, once non-EU partner is already in UK.

As the result of your current application - should it succeed- your wife will get a vignette in her passport valid for 6 months. Once she’s in the country she may/ will need to apply for a residency card. These are the timelines for that card

Did you read the FAQ in the EEA applications section of this website? It really helps to understand the basics of the process

1. As I explained above, I assume you are mixing 2 different steps on your way. FP is free of charge.
2. Book it online as the application is only completed once biometrics was submitted. You will receive an email.
3. No, no COA for FP vignette. She will need a family permit in her passport to travel
4. please see point 1
