Retain Right of Residence and passport safety

My ex wife asked me if I can provide passport for her Retain Right of Residence application. Is there any way I send my passport directly to the Home Office and ask them to return it to me after? Is it safe to leave passport with your ex if it's not possible to send directly to HO?

In general terms, it is always possible to send additional documentation to any application after the initial package has been sent, provided you mark clearly the applicant's name and best if you include application number, if known. BUT this will almost certainly add processing time to the application, meaning more time you wait for your passport back, and the risk of your passport being misplaced and not be identified as belonging to the right application, and also more delay to get it back. Best is always to provide the whole thing as one bundle.

Now... what you might want to ask is whether the Home Office will contact you separately if your ex-wife does not supply your passport with her application. Answer to this is yes, as it is only very common that divorced couples are no longer on speaking terms. As with the above, this does certainly add processing time to the application, but means your ex-wife will never lay hands on your passport, if that worries you.

This is a hilarious question. What sort of answer are you expecting, exactly? :D

Pre-settled vs Retained Rights of Residence

Hi guys,

I called the EU Settlement Scheme Resolution Centre by telephone ( 0300 123 7379 ) and they advised to apply for Pre-Settled status instead of RoR.

Case:
- Husband EEA National
- Wife Ukraine
- Married more than 3 years,
- 3 years together in the UK
- Divorced while being together in the UK (divorce filled in Ukraine)
- Both living in the UK
- EEA Family Permit

Is in this case possible for her to apply for the Pre-Settled status bypassing the RoR application ?

btw. the EEA national (sponsor) has documented full 5 years work in the UK and already has British Passport

UPDATE: I asked further and it looks they meant that if you apply through their app for pre-settled or settled status after divorce they will treat this as RoR application anyway, so there is no difference which way.
