settle status granted early will effect when applying nationalty

i just find out a intresting case and wanna share with you guys and wanty advise as well.
one of my friend who has been marreid to eu national for 4years and 5 months granted settle status. as he was living in the uk from 2012 and automatic check gave him option of settle status. later on he got the settle status as automatic check say. now question raise here will he have to notify home office about this?
second if he don't inform the home office will it be trouble for him when he apply for british nationallty.
note he got divroced as well from eu national in 2019 he apply on the basises of retain rights.
