Family permit advice

I have been married to an EEA national for the last twenty years. I am South African born.
My 5 year family permit ran out earlier in January (15th)
I want to know what my next step is to becoming a permanent resident so that I don’t fall privy to forgetting to update my family permit.
I have chronic illnesses and severe depression and this is a lot of strain.
Please advise.

I do not have an up to date passport
I do not have any photographic identification except the family permit that has just run out.

Hello

This is not a brilliant situation.

You need immediately to start to get yourself sorted. The constant care of every immigrant is to see that his paperwork is in order.

If you keep letting your leave and passport expire, you can find yourself in South African one day just like that. A person a tried to help a couple of years ago ended up in Africa after 26 years in the UK.

- Start the process to renew your passport asap:

- At the same time, try the EU Settlement Scheme and use the EEA card as proof of identity. Normally, as spouse of an EEA national, you don't even have to have a BRP. So the expiration is not as serious as it looks.

Move now. The depression can wait.
