ID proof problem with EU settled and pre-settled status

Hello,

I'm living in the UK under a Tier 2 visa that just expire. I did an application an was refuse (I already post in the main Tier 2 forum).

The main point of this post is that I'm also an Italian citizen. I got my citizenship a couple of months ago (the process started back on December 2014 in Argentina). The idea was to apply using the EU route but I'm having problems getting my Italian passport.

At the moment, the consulate is asking for my certificate of naturalization / birth certificate which I need to get from my Comune (town) in Italy. I already ask for it, and I'm waiting for the papers.

Now, I was looking at the website and there is a EU Settlement Resolution Centre that you can contact if you don't have an ID proof (passport/identity card).

Does anyone have any idea about the process ?

My only proof at the moment is the email that I got from the Italian embassy in Argentina, telling me that I'm an Italian citizen. I can probably contact the embassy again and ask if they can provide something else, but I just want to post this info here in case that someone have an idea or went into something similar.

Any idea/advice will be appreciated.
Cheers.

I think you are confused, Diego.

The EU Settlement Resulution center is there to support applicants to the EUSS. But without a passport or other form of Italian ID, you cannot apply, and as far as I understand they can do little to process your application without proof of EU identity.

I'm curious, why do you get the idea that the EU Resulution center deals with people with no ID?

Your best best is to keep chasing your local commune authorities in Italy.

Hi Kamoe,

First, thanks for the answer!
I went back and read the page and yes, I misunderstood a section in the website, it read:
---
You need a valid passport or national identity card. You also need to provide a digital photo of your face.
If you’re not an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you can use any of the following:
- valid passport
- biometric residence card
- biometric residence permit

If you do not have any of these you may be able to use other evidence in certain situations. Contact the EU Settlement Resolution Centre if you do not have an identity document.
---

It only apply if you are not an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, so not my case.
So yes, I will keep chasing my commune.
Thanks again!
