Biometrics, then upload documents? or other way around?

Hi, my wife is booked in to do her biometrics on Monday morning, and we're just wondering what do we do about the documents to be uploaded onto the TLScontact website? We paid priority (£220gbp). Am i right in thinking that the application is sent off to UKVI whenever both the documents plus the biometrics are completed?
One more question, we'd like to have her passport posted back to us, does she arrange that there at the visa office, or is it imperative we do arrange it beforehand?
