Can I get deported while waiting for my Settlement Scheme to be processed?

Hi,

I'm currently in the UK working under a Tier 2 Visa, but because my wife is Italian, I've also applied for the Settlement Scheme. Under my Visa, if I lose my job (or I resign) I need to find a new Sponsor within the next 60 days or I need to leave the country. The thing is that Settlement Scheme Applications can take more than 60 days to be processed (mine started a week ago), so I was wondering If I could stay legally in the UK for more than 60 days while waiting for my application to be processed. This is all hypothetical, but It will still give me peace of mind.

Thanks!

The 60 days starts from the date that ukvi send you a tier 2 curtailment letter. It is NOT from the date you resign or stop working for your tier 2 sponsor.

Curtailment letters can take a while to get sent out.

Thanks! But even so, Is waiting for my settlement scheme status to be resolved a valid reason to stay in the country? I thought I have read something like that somewhere but now I can't find it
