Scanning documents in support of BRP application: ambiguous guidance on passport scan

When submitting mandatory documents in support of BRP application and prior to the biometric appointment, the applicant is requested to provide the following information:
Proof of Identity / Travel History
Triscan of applicant's Travel Document photo page only using Workstation Biometric Device
It is unclear whether the applicant can scan the ID page of the passport in advance of the appointment.
