Pre Settled application in Process and family member

Hi
my friend application for presettled status is in process. He came to UK before 31/12/2020 and applied for pre settled status in the end of May 2021.He still did not received a confirmation for his status. When he check online it says he is allowed to work.
His wife and daughter are in Sweden and they want to come to UK to join him.
Will they have to wait to get his decision and apply ?
what supporting documents they will need to show ?
they can apply for a general visit visa to come to UK or it is better to wait for his pre settled decision ?
