Enter UK without BRC (non-EU)

Hey,

I am non-EU and have got the pre-settle status, I am currently in EU and my family permit has expired. But my BRC never arrived (almost a month since I got my decision). Is there a way to enter UK without BRC? I have checked EUSS travel permit but it seems that it is for people who lost their BRC and I never receive it. I can ask HO and ask them to send again but it might takes another month or so.

Any information or help is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Best,

In principle, there are two obstacles:
  • Airlines checking that you have the right to travel, and will demand a physical document or visa on passport;
  • UK border control checking that you have the right to enter the UK. Wether they will accept a share code or require a biometric card is what I am trying to find out in this post.

I've heard of two permits: Travel Permit and Family Permit. As far as I understand, someone in your position being stranded abroad without a physical document to prove your status can always apply for a Family Permit.

Either chasing your card or applying for a family permit might take a while indeed, given the backlog of applications.

Another potential option that could be possible for you, if and only if UK border control can verify your status with a share code, is travelling via Eurostar from Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam, where the border control is done in the EU country (no airline to refuse you border). They might be in a position to check your status using a share code, and without a biometric card. Again, I do not know if this works, I am trying to find out!

Actually, if your status is attached to your passport you might not need a share code at all if you manage to make it in front of a UK border officer (via the aforementioned juxtaposed controls of Eurostar), since they could verify your status using your passport. Or so says the theory.
