Ex-Pat returning?

Hello,

I am a EU ex-pat with double citizenship British/Italian currently living in Italy
I would like to return to UK but I'm short of the requirements for the skilled worker path.
Can I still apply for EEA route as late applicant?

I've read many documents from the gov.uk website but I'm still clueless.
I've also contacted a solicitor who may give me a personalized question, but I'd like to know if it's worth my while to spend a couple hundred pound just to hear an answer like "No, you can't".
So.. generically speaking: is there still a small chance?

Thanks to whoever will answer

You are British !

Just turn up at the border with your British passport ....
As a British citizen you cannot apply for UK immigration paths.

that's the kind of answer I like...

I guess I'd have to apply for a new passport as although valid it was issued before brexit

So I can apply for a job from here Specifying I'm a british citizen

Why?? A valid passport is a valid passport. There is no requirement to renew simply because of Brexit. I am still travel in my pre Brexit red passport

Yes.
