Using Biometric Residence permit for driving licence application

Hello
I did search, I really did, trying to find the more appopriate thread for my question.
Basically, I want to apply for a provisional licence, for which a EU Settlement Scheme Residence Card, is good for proving one's identity. I have two Residence Cards - one which has been issued under EU Settlement Scheme (the 'new' RC) and the Article 10 RC (the 'old' RC) which was superseded by the 'new' RC but which is nominally valid until October 2023.
Now, I am mortified of DVLA losing identity documents, as the frequently do, and consider sending the 'old' RC as part of the supporting documentation. Will this get me into any shade of trouble?
Apologies if this is outside the scope of this forum.
