Speeding fine + penalty points - should I declare them?

I have pre-settled status and will soon be able to apply for settled status.

Last week I received a FPN fine of £100 + 3 points for going 36 on a 30 mph road.

I am anxious now about my application and wonder if I should disclose this? The website says that FPN shouldn’t be disclosed (and they specify a speeding fine as example), but at the same time any unspent conviction should be disclosed.

I think penalty points (“endorsements”) are unspent for five years so clearly I’m a long way from having them being “spent”, so which is it? Should I declare the points but not the fine?

I’ve read online that only endorsements given by court stay on criminal records but also saw somewhere else that any endorsements given for speeding should be considered as given by court regardless!

I’m so very confused as what should be disclosed or not?

Can someone help explain this to me please?

Thank you

The website quotes your case specifically as not needing disclosure. If you want to, you can disclose anyway - if it is your only FPN it is unlikely to affect your settled status.

When did my continuous residence start?

I moved to the UK for work in December 2019 and received pre-settled status in January 2020.

Before that, I visited the UK twice: once in September 2019 for the job interview, and another time in November 2019 to look for accommodation and sign a tenancy agreement.

Following the rules, what date should I consider my continuous residence to have started?

I don’t have much evidence of being here in September and November 2019. Is there any risk applying too early in terms of my pre-settled status?

Thank you

The application is free - worst that happens it will get refused and you can apply again in November. Technically though, those in 2019 were just visits and you weren't living here at the time, so you would become eligible in November. It's only a couple more months to wait.
