Guidance Needed for Converting BRP with ILR (EU Settlement Scheme) to Digital eVisa

Hello everyone,

I was granted Settled Status under the EU Settlement Scheme in 2019 while holding a BRP card as an EU family member. After obtaining Settled Status, I applied for and received a new BRP with ILR (EU Settlement Scheme), valid until 2029.

Recently, I heard that many BRP/BRC holders have received emails from the UK Home Office inviting them to create an account and link their immigration status to a digital eVisa. However, I have not received any such email.

I’d greatly appreciate guidance on the following:

Process: What steps are involved in converting my physical BRP to a digital status? Do I need to initiate this, or will I eventually receive an invite?

Timeline: How long does this process usually take?

Travel Concerns: I may need to travel outside the UK in January. How can I prove my UK ILR status while abroad, especially if I am in a non-EU country? What should I do if I don't have internet access while traveling?
If anyone has gone through this process or has additional insights, I’d love to hear from you. Many of us in similar situations would benefit from understanding the practicalities of proving ILR status digitally outside the UK.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Anyone with a physical immigration document can now have access to an eVisa, no need to wait for an invite or email.

See the eVisa guidance and check how you can get it depending on the immigration status and type of document you have.

From 1st January 2025 this status will be checked digitally. Carriers were already informed about this. https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... isa-checks
