EEA4 - five (and a bit) questions

Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding EEA4.
I'm the unmarried partner of a EU national and we applied in Jan 2005 (after living together two years) for him to exercise his Treaty rights in the UK and for me to stay with him as his family member.
He received a little residence card, and I received a stamp in my passport stating that I can stay in the UK as the family member of an EU citizen until 22 March 2010.

1) Am I right in thinking that we both automatically get PR but that I (at least) have to send in my passport with the EEA4 form otherwise the immigration officers at entry points may not let me reenter the UK if I go abroad? I can't just keep travelling with my passport and the stamp expiring 22 March 2010 and then apply for naturalisation after 22 March 2011?

2)Supposing I have to send in the EEA4 form, I've looked at the form and there doesn't seem to be any request for supporting documents showing our relationship like we had to send in last time. Should I send in lots of documents proving our relationship again, eg - joint bank account statements, joint car insurance, joint RAC membership, photos, supporting letters from family and friends anyway?

3) Supposing still I have to send the EEA4 form, is it alright to send it in after 28 days before 22 March 2010? We have flights to visit his family and we would get back on 23 February 2010.

4) Continuing with the EEA4 form, I'm aware that applicants have to send in all original documents with the application. I am booked to work abroad (through a UK company) April 8 2010. Would I request the return of my passport almost immediately after applying? How long does it take to get the passport back? (is it really the 10 days as the HO say) How long can I keep my passport? (We are due to travel in June/July with my parents to my partners country, and I'm not sure if I keep requesting the passport and returning it or keep it as long as I like until they request it back)

5) Can I check that I'm right in thinking that regardless of my situation (whether or not I apply for EEA4) my partner doesn't have to apply for EEA3 if he can't be bothered?

Many thanks

HI Wolfiestar,

I guess there are HO verification offices around the country where they can attest your photo copies and you can send those with your application. However did you find out about getting back your passport once you apply for EEA4. did you get it back and how long did it take?

Cheers
