Hi Everyone!

This site has been great, everyone here is very knowledgeable!

In a nutshell, we are South African, but my husband has dual citizenship with Portugal. We’ve Been together over 5 years, 4 years in SA, just over one here. And we’re newlyweds, as we’ve recently married here.

I just want to make sure that I have a clear understanding regarding the EEA 2 Application before submitting.
So I (as non-eea) will complete it as the applicant (section 1), while providing Hubby’s (eea) work history and evidence of exercising treaty rights.
So I will include our:
• Passport Photos
• Both Passports
• His Payslips, contract and letter of employment.

As proof of relationship I will include our marriage Certificate, and would it help by including photographs of us dating back 5 years ago (or a disc with digital photographs) I’ve heard this helps? or prints of emails sent to each other over the years?

We live in a shared house, which is quite common in London, so we do not have any utility bills in our names, and our rent agreement is verbal. So for proof of us residing together could I include:
• Bank Statement
• Payslips
• Credit Card Statement
• Confirmation from the NHS
• Letters form a company I am using to repay a small loan
• Letters/accounts from my mobile contract provider

Would all of that be ok?

Is there anything I’ve missed out or anything else I can include to make our application easier for them to consider?

The last thing I want is for them to ask for more documents 6 months down the line!

Your application looks good to go! Forget about the disc with photos though! They don't look at that. You could add a few hard copy pictures if you like, but not really necessary. Marriage cert and the rest of it says it all, really.
Could you get your landlord to draw up an actual rental contract for you? Better than just a 'verbal' arrangement.

Oh, very importantly, I've been researching on a few different websites and am a little confused.

My Hubby's been working in the UK for two years, does he have to apply for a residency Certificate (EEA 1)? And If he does, should we submit both together?

Optional, just as the Residence Card. The certificate is mostly useless anyway. You can submit it together which would be the logical thing to do anyway because of the overlap in documents.

But If he doesn't apply for the certificate (EEA1) its ok too?

The only difference between your husband applying and not applying is effectively that he includes the EEA1 form in the first case and doesn't in the second case. The set of documents HO needs is the same.

Feeling very confident about it now, will submit both together I think.
