The nightmare is finally over for us, as of today!

Note, we first submitted our application, without any errors in March.. It was then returned to us (landing on our door step 1 month late due to the Royal Mail) asking for health insurance, even though we'd already included it. We then resubmitted the application just as we'd sent it the first time. Fabulous efficiency, I'm sure you'll agree.

It took 5 months and 4 days to return. Sent on May 17th

What may be of interest is that I'm a dual national.. British/Irish.. And I used my Irish nationality though I've never lived in Ireland. I lived in Turkey for 6 years.. But my partner still got his RC.. So there's hope for dual nationals at the moment.

Good luck to everyone else!

Just to give an update, my husband who is brazilian applied for the EEA2 in May (I'm Italian), application was received by the HO on 18/05, COA received about 2 months ago and now we are getting to 5 months of waiting. I really want to believe that before the 6 months deadline he will receive his visa but reading this forum makes me think that they don't care about this deadline at all and the truth is that no one will do anything about it because it takes time and money to sue these bastards.

Since we got married in May (before sending the application) we didn't have a chance to go on our honeymoon because HO have our passports, it is terrible!

Hi all! Good news! My husband received his residence visa on 18/10/10
issued on: 15/10/10
5 months is the time it took.

Now I can finally book our honeymoon :)

All the best for you all, hang in there!

Hi,

If you provided HO with a pre paid envelope like I did, tracking that number was useless for me. I tracked that bloody number every day for 5 months and even when HO did send the RC it still says "Sorry no packages found for that reference" on the Royal Mail website.

I didn't include any prepaid return envelopes, am reffering to the certificate of application when an EEA 2 application is submitted! I still haven't received it!

Currently it is taking atleast 4-6 weeks to recieve COA, I understand that the dates you ahve provided are dd/mm and not mm/yy, if however you have not received the COA after 6 weeks call the HO and confirm if they can send you a COA.

We recieved our COA on the 29/10/2010. Letter was dated 20/10/2010.
So 1 month to get it!

Hi all,
I'm new here after reading your very helpful suggestions for a while.

I would like to ask you a question:
I've sent my application on Oct,5th and HO has received on Oct 6th.
Today I've gotten my CoA...the problem is: together with my application I had included a covering letter asking for my passport (and my husband's) back asap since we are due to a friend's weeding on Nov,23rd. The CoA gives me a "case ID": do you think they are already working on my application and I should wait or do you believe I would better call them to remind my travel plans?

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks a lot

Passport return

Post by Bombom the Frenchies » Wed Nov 03, 2010 4:30 pm

Hi bertuzzist

I requested my passport return at the moment of application as well.
Even though I received the COA, UKBA didn't send me back my passport without request.

This is what I did..
First I sent e-mail which is only for requesting passport back as it was not within 10days of travel.
Nothing happened.
So I called UKBA for my passport return when it gets to 10days of travel.
Then UKBA returned my passport with next day delivery which I enclosed togather with my application.
I made sure that UKBA uses the enclosed envelop when I called up UKBA.

I made application in mid September, but I haven't asked to return my passport to UKBA yet.
So I don't think your application is in process yet.
Also I called them yesterday asking how long it will take for me to get RC.
UKBA answered now they are making decisions for applications made in June and July.

If I were you, I make phone call to UKBA requesting passport return as soon as possible.
