Hello,

I would like to find out whether it is possible for a non EEA family member permit holder, who has acquired this status based on proof of financial self sufficiency can later seek employment whilst in the uk.

If this is possible please advise the best way to go about it, especially as the FAMILY MEMBER PERMIT,clearly states- no work; no business; no recourse to public funds.

Thanks

Hi

- what type of family permit do you have?
- what is the relationship to the EU national?

Thanks for replying,
the stamp states Family member EEA national, and valid for 12months subject to renewal....its a form of resident permit ,though temporary...it also reads'no work,no business, no recourse to public funds...

The EEA national is my son- and is an irish born child
Much Appreciated!

Chen case then.

Employment not allowed until permanent residence is acquired. You need to wait 5 years.

Thanks very much,

But what about the issue of an EEA child/ national who has been resident in UK for 7years? is he entitled to british citizenship after 7yrs? i have heard that he might be due this- if so what status does the mother then have?

Thanks again
