I would like to know if the probationary citizenship would affect EEA nationals and their family members when it kicks off perhaps next year?
I read in the ''PATH TO CITIZENSHIP'' published by the home office saying the reforms do not affect the EEA nationals.
To me i think it is not applicable to EEA nationals and thier family members. Please advice.....Thanks

No UK legislation can affect the path to PR status under the terms of the EU Directive.

What happens under the terms of UK legislation as regards Naturalisation applications ... we shall just have to wait and see ... nothing is clear at the moment.

by Directive/2004/38/EC
Each EU member state has full control of their citizenship law. Nothing specified about it at an EU level.

So they could say, if they were insane, that Germans required 7.5 years of residence before naturalizing, and Irish people required 8 years of residence before naturalizing, and somebody from Canada requires 25 years, and must also submit a photo of themselves eating cheeze.

Your right to reside in the the UK comes from European law, specifically Directive 2004/38/EC and European case law.
