Hi guys,

I am british National and will be applying for a family permit for my wife (Non Eu). Now i am currently based in Ireland and relocating back to UK and will not have a job in the UK initially, however i do plan to sort it out ASAP once i am there

Now the question is when applying for family permit should my wife say that she is relocating with me to the UK or simply traveling for visit purposes ?
My wife was granted a family permit for the last 6 months which has now expired.

I am inclined to say for visit purposes only as it would cast doubt otherwise with no job etc. Is this the right approach? any good suggestions are much appreciated.

In principle, you do not have to give any reason why you wish to cross the border. Technically, you could just cross the border without it (does she have a EU4FAM?). But being a British who wishes to return back home the situation is always more complicated. Legally, you should also not be required to have work after returning (see Eind case, also discusses here on several occasions) but it is not clear if the UKBA follows that.
