Working as a EEA family member

Hi guys,
Here is the situation, I sent my eea2 application to HO on 12/05/2011 and i am waiting for C.O.A soon i hope and my visa is running out on 09/06/2011.The visa i had before that was on the bases of FMRS which was for one year and that is running out as i stated above and i am working at the moment. once my visa run out my company will ask me to stop working until i provide them C.O.A from HO as i seen some ppl on this site saying that it's been months now and they did'nt recieve their C.O.A and i am quite worry about mine because stoppage of work after visa ran out. Also whenever you try to call HO regarding this issue they have got one and only recorded answer, they can't tell nothing before six months passes on process.
my question is:
is there any law which force employer not to stop their employee from working?
even though i have got special delivery reciept which confirms, application has been recieved by HO but employer doesn't accept that. it's totally rubbish if you do'nt recieve your C.O.A on time then you are in mess which is definitely created by HO but they do'nt care.
Somebody can help please or going through from same situation:(
