EEA route for non-EU parents

Folks
I would like to know if any EEA citizen here has successfully applied for and obtained the EEA family visa for their dependent non-EU parents. I spent quite some time searching, and although the law says that dependent non-EU parents of EEA nationals can take the EEA family permit route I have yet to come across a case where it has been successfully done. I am keen to know what documents/procedures were followed.

I suggest you see timeline for EEA2 thread there is some cases who got their resident card on basis of dependent of non eu family memeber but it tool long time to get theri RC but at the end it was successfull. However there is strong evidence required to prove that the depandent completely rely on main applicant. Thank you

either way, it has been done and is realistic in both cases of permit and card, tell us the details of your case and people here could try and help.

My situation is that I am a Irish citizen and I intend to move to UK within the next 2 or 3 months. I would like to get my parents who are Indian citizens and who are dependent on me to the UK to live with me.
I understand that first I need to apply for an EEA family permit first for them and then upon arrival in the UK they would need to apply for an EEA2 card. Isnt this right?
I just want to ensure that their application is not turned down so which specific documentation would I need to provide to make this case bullet-proof.

Where are your parents living at the moment? How are they dependent on you? You could also try a family visitor visa but that obviously depends on how realistic that would be for them.

They are living in India. Under Irish law I cannot get them to Ireland for more than 3 months at a time. I provide for their monthly expenses, medical needs, insurance etc. Also they are living in an apartment owned by me. I guess these are strong grounds?

Thanks for the link. I presume that the financial documentation can be in the form of cheques or drafts or other bills that I have made to them or on their behalf.
Also, in the thread it is mentioned that the applicant's parents were under 65 yrs of age. Is there any significance to this? Does it mean that if the dependent parents are above 65 they are ineligible for application?

Your parents will need to show that their own income is so low that they need your support to meet their essential needs.
