Why haven't they retuned my husbands passport?

I sent my application to the HO about six months ago. However, the decision was negative but the problem is my husband needs his passport to travel and we have called the HO on four occassions and all they say is we shd give them ten working days and its been two weeks now what shd we do?

You have called them 4 times in the last two weeks? Wow!
10 working days is 2 weeks elapsed time, so I would not worry too much about it.
What were you applying for? Why was it rejected? Why did UKBA retain the passport? Did you get back the rest of the application documents?
If the documents do not come soon, your MP may be able to contact UKBA for you.
