My husband has just recently recieved his EEA family permit visa to come to the uk from Turkey. In our application we put down that we would like him to be able to come to the uk on 18th January 2012 as we thought the application process would have taken longer than it actually did, what we now want to know is, does he have to wait until 18th january to come here or can he come here now that hes got it?

What does the EEA Family Permit say? That is, what is its period of validity?

An EEA Family Permit is normally valid for six months from the date of issue. If that is the case, you can of course use it from the day you get it.

However, as an applicant you can request a different (later) starting date of validity (up to three months later). The period of validity would still be six months. If you have done that, then obviously you can only use from the date it is valid.

The date of visa must have already started after the decision.

Check from and till date in the visa and plan your journey..
