Hi
Does anybody know, if my partner closes his bank account in new york and brings cash with him as he's coming on a P.C.P Visa, can he open any bank account in the U.K only being on the P.C.P visa, before his F.L.M is granted, as he's going to have trouble trying to get his bank statements stamped by his bank to show they are true copies if he's not in new york to take them to the bank, when he comes to apply for the F.L.R we know they wont accept his internet copys as they say they have to be stamped by the bank as true copys, can anyone offer any advice please?? thank you

He should be able to open a bank account but some banks are getting stricter on this particularly when migrants have short term visas. I don't understand what you are referring to in relation to having to get banks statements stamped as true copies. Why can't he just provide the original bank statement?

Hi
Thanks for the reply, the problem is the border agency say your bank statements have to be stamped by the bank as true copys because he only uses internet banking, in new york, his bank lets you view on-line and then you can print them out and take them to your bank if you want them stamped as true copys, but as he wont be in new york he will be in the U.K, this is the problem how can you print off your own bank statements and get them stamoed by the bank if your not in your own country, what we wanted to do was for him to bring some money with him and then an account here, but if you know about the internet banking on what we could do,to assist the border agency with F.L.M comes around? that would be very hekpfull thank you

Can't he choose an option of having postal statements? It seems a bit risky closing his account and withdrawing all of the funds without first making sure he can open an account here first. Perhaps he should make some enquiries about opening an account with some UK banks before closing the account? How much money are we talking about?

Hi thanks for the reply, he wanted to bring about £2000 two thousand pounds and still leave his account open in the U.S.A but this would be all of his savings, and then we can find a bank account here in the U.K. his own bank account will stay open so he can still get money from his parents who said in the visa application they would support him with 200$ each month for one year so they will be paying this in each month into his account, or do you think its better to just keep the money in his own account in the U.S,A for now, we are just trying to make things easy as his own bank, its internet banking and he would have problems not be able to get his printed bank statements stamped as true copys by the bank, because he is not there, any advise would help. thanks so much

He could get one last statement from the bank before he leaves but after that he could not, if he explained this in his letter for f.l.r would they accept this? or would they need they stamped, thanks
