How to claim Income Tax back

Hi,
I Came to UK on June 2015 in ICT Short term. I am going back to India by 30 May 2016.
Till now i paid around GBP 1000 as Income Tax.
Since i am leaving UK, Can i get the Paid Tax back?
If yes, how and what is the procedure.....

Heard from one of my friend that we can get back the paid income tax since we are going back to our home country...

You might get a partial refund under certain circumstances ie been on a WK1 tax code or had a lot of time off work unpaid but tax is tax, it's to be paid not a loan to the Gov.
