Office in Canary Wharf

Hello,

I will move to London soon and my office is in Canary Wharf. We are an Indian family of four. I am researching on areas where I can rent a two-bedroom flat. My key considerations, in order of priority, are:

1. Good primary school
2. Family-friendly (with libraries, parks etc.)
3. Affordable Rent (ideally not more than GBP 1600 per month)
4. Commute time (preferably less than 45 minutes each way)

I know I may have to stretch criteria 3 & 4 to accommodate 1 & 2 but if all four above are met, that will be great.

Thank you in advance.

Assuming by 45 mins each way you mean a return journey of no more than 90 mins, you may like to consider Tonbridge in Kent which appears to tick all the boxes. With an each way train journey to London Bridge of just over 30 mins, castle and park by the river Medway and good Primary schools. Accommodation should be well within budget. Also convenient for day-trips to the seaside resorts of Brighton Eastbourne and Hastings.

Thank you. Would you recommend Stratford? Seems to be a shorter commute and and rents seem to be within my budget. Not sure about the schools though.

A quick Google search told me Stratford is probably not for me!

Hi Sidganesh,
If you are looking for rent between £1300-1500 for 2 bed, and good commute to canary wharf, you look no further.
1)Ilford
2)stratford
3)barking
4)East ham( very very busy and crowded)
5)Beckton ( DLR service to canary wharf)
6)Canning town

the above four places are good for indians as there are many indian families who work for IT and travel to city and canary wharf. And all these four places has got temples, good and best primary and secondary schools, tuition centres, indian grocery shops and south indian restaurants.

If you are want a feel and touch of india you can select these places.

Hi Sidganesh,

I am moving to London myself around January next year and my office is also close to Canary Wharf with the London Bridge station being the closest.
Can you recommend what locality you found accommodation in as your 4 requirements are matching my needs like a carbon copy.
Also since you have been there for a couple of months can you include pros and cons of your neighborhood and recommend other locations / neighborhoods that match the requirements.

Thanks in advance,
Sidmoe
