Hi everyone,

I wonder how much cash money we are allowed to carry with us going abroad passing the airports, I am not very keen on using credit/debit cards abroad, very expensive, rather to have have some cash on hands if needed, and idea please? thanks.

If you carry more than 10K Euros (equivalent) you'll need to declare it to UK customs.

A few hundred pounds is enuff to start, don't carry too much cash, but keep it on standby to be wired into bank when u open account.

Cash can be VERY expensive if lost or stolen.

Travel stores sell all kinds of money belts or pouches to be worn under clothing. Also good to have more than one money pouch, or hide your money in more than one place under your clothing.

Although you will be carrying less than you have to declare you may be asked at customs to show the money, sometimes to prove you have enough to pay expenses. You can ask to show the money in private and not where other passengers can see it.

Keep only what you need that day for meals/hotel in your pocket or wallet, the rest in money belt.
