The nearest town is Bishop's Stortford which is a small town in Hertfordshire. A lot of staff from Stansted airport live in Bishop's Stortford, although it is not exactly the most multicultural of places (as are many of the places in the East Herts/Uttlesford area). The area itself is predominantly white middle class, though generally very friendly. The standard of living and schools are good in that area, although it is relatively rural.
Harlow is perhaps a little cheaper than Bishop's Stortford/Uttlesford and is 20 minutes drive from Stansted Airport up the M11. It's a little bit more ethnically diverse, though the housing is perhaps not as nice (IMHO).
I guess it depends on what you mean by "more Indian community." If you're looking for real ethnic diversity, etc. then it's difficult to look much further than London and a commute to Stansted instead (either by train or by car).
Hope that's helpful.
