GTV Work Restrictions

Post by carloseliot61 » Tue Jul 09, 2024 12:55 pm

Hello all,

I have just received my GTV and plan to start my own business in the UK. However, I need some initial capital. To save up, I am considering working a daily job on weekends or part-time at Starbucks. According to my visa conditions, I am allowed to work without any restrictions.

I am wondering if working a daily job or part-time as a barista will affect my visa status or my eligibility for ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) in the future.

Thank you.

GTV visa holders cannot be employed as a professional sportsperson (including as a sports coach). That is the only restriction for work.

However, the GTV route visa is granted to people who will be leaders in their field, or have the potential to be leaders, as determined by a Home Office recognised endorsing body. Why would such a person need to work as a 'barista' at Starbucks to supplement their income? This does not make much sense, to be honest
