Hi There,

I am Australian. I am looking to apply for a T1 Exceptional Promise Visa based on my skills and experience in Creative Direction and Styling.

I have notable brands/companies (all UK based), including Toni & Guy, willing to write me references. I also have many press articles about projects I was involved in however my name is not mentioned directly. For example an exhibition I hugely contributed to was put in the guardian as one of the top 10 exhibitions of the year. This the Artist named in the article behind the exhibition can write me a reference no problem.

MY QUESTIONS ARE:
-Who should my referees address their recommendation letters to?
-If I need to have letters to support press documents that I was involved in but not directly mentioned will these be considered reference letters too? Will I be penalised for having too many letters from industry professionals?
-Is it ok that all press documents do not directly mention my name? so long as I have the person (company) it does write something to link me to the article?
-I do not have a degree... is this a major issue?

I am feeling extremely nervous to begin this process, lots of self sabotage going on. I know my reference will be great, I do worry about the press articles. Ultimately I understand this take self belief and projection. I am willing to let this experience push me out of my comfort zone and I will really stop at nothing to get this visa.

ANY ADVICE WOULD APPRECIATED <3 !!

Thank-you!

Hello,

I have no experience specifically with Arts Council, but I'll try to give some general advice.

Q: Who should my referees address their recommendation letters to?
A: Referees may address the competent body in general. For example:
For the attention of Arts Council:
Regarding the application of Mr ...
Q: If I need to have letters to support press documents that I was involved in but not directly mentioned will these be considered reference letters too?
A: Since you have two pages for each supporting document, you may put extract from Guardian article on the first page and small letter expaining your role on the second page. This is a useful trick if your name is not directly mentioned.

Q: Will I be penalised for having too many letters from industry professionals?
A: I think, it depends. If all letters are very different and cover many different areas - it should be fine. If letters are all the same - it looks like you have nothing else to add and simply filling the space.

Q: -I do not have a degree... is this a major issue?
A: Normally, it's not an issue. I was endorsed by Tech Nation while having a non-tech degree. It might be worth adding a document to explain how did you learn your craft.

I suggest to wait for some replies from talents in arts, just in case.
I wish you best of luck.

ukhereicome, yes, I did. CV is a mandatory requirement in case of Tech Nation. It is a separate document not included in 10 documents limit.
