Global Talent Endorsement by RAE

Hi,
I am currently on a Tier 2 visa and would like to apply for a Global Talent Visa through Royal Academy of Engineering. One of the Mandatory requirement for the route that suits me best is
The applicant must be an active researcher in a relevant field, typically within a university, research institute or within industry
It is the word researcher that I am not so sure about. I am an electrical engineer working in the industry but I'm not sure if I can be considered as a researcher. Has anybody here had the same experience?
