Hello,
If person Alpha has obtained ILR based on a Tier 1 visa, how could they renew/replace their spouse's soon-to-expire BPR? That BPR was obtained as 'Depedent' before ILR was obtained by person Alpha.
Thanks.

Which Tier 1 category?
Probably may extend under the same dependant category to complete the qualifying period for ILR.

Tier 1 Exceptional Talent.
Does the dependent need to apply for a visa extension or just BPR extension? The difference is about £1000.

Unfortunately, I think one cannot extend a
BRP without extending leave, unless it’s an ILR BRP.

You need to apply for a visa extension under the Global Talent dependant route
