National Insurance

Post by ganeshptrk » Tue Aug 19, 2008 7:58 pm

Hi,
I have a query on National Insurance. If one is earning more than 105 GBP per week, then they have to pay NI in addition to Income Tax. So is paying NI starts from the first month you started the job...? I heard from someone that paying NI starts only from 2nd year (that is 13th Month). So one doesn't have to pay NI in their first year.

Please clarify this.

Cheers
Ganesh

I beleive there is no exception in paying NI, it starts from the day you start your job. Employeers normally deduct it from your salary! Not sure if you are self employed what would be the rules.
Hope this helps.

We registered as self-employed when applying in person for NI no. in DSS office, this link may help you.
