Tier 1 Dependant - Dentist

Post by saljav » Fri May 06, 2011 12:53 pm

Hi Guys,

My wife is a dentist and with me in UK under Tier 1 Dependant visa. However the visa states that she cannot work as a Dentist in Training.

Now my question is who is the relevant body who will identify which roles within dentistry are classified as "Dentist in training". Example of the roles are SHO, Apprenticeship, Dental Hygienist etc.

Is it Home Office , NHS or General Dental Council who can be consulted regarding this.

Also, if anyone else is in the same situation, can they provide any guidance as how to approach this scenario.

I'll be applying for ILR in 2 years, does anyone have information when similar restrictions are on ILR as well.

1. The employers (e.g. - employing NHS trust) will tell you for sure (if the job advert. does suggest one way or the other).

2. GDC can give you an idea about the generic titles of non-training posts (e.g. - trust doctor, clinical fellow, clinical assistants, staff grade, hospital practitioner etc.) to help you figure out for yourself (in most cases) but cannot advice you on individual job advertisements (e.g. - an SHO post may be a training post or a non-training post, and only the employer will be able to tell you which one they have advertised for).

3. Home Office has nothing to do with all this.

As and when your wife ceases to hold PBS leave, she will not be subject to this restriction. In other words, if she is granted settled status or is granted leave as spouse of settled person she will not be subject to these restrictions.

If anyone in a similar position has some advise as to which roles she can apply for. My aim is for her to have some useful working experience in this environment while still relevant to her field.

Hi,

Pls read the below thread which I have posted for my wife(she too is dentist from India).

Sush has helped me a lot.......as well as I got useful reply from one of the dentist.

1. In order to work as a dentist she has to clear ORE exam u can get the details from GDC website. Until she clear her ORE she can work as a dental nurse in private clinic for that she has to either apply for NVQ level 3 dental nurse course or National Examining Board for Dental Nurses course and give the exam which allow her to registered herself as dental nurse with GDC

While she is doing course she can work as a dental nurse.

Meanwhile you download the forms from this website http://www.mrcf.org.uk/ and submit the form once u do that u will become a member of yahoo group where u will get many answers regarding people who are preparing for ORE
