Hi Guys,
I am here in the UK for the past three months and looking for a job in C++. Though there are many jobs available in the jobsites, I am not getting into the position that I want to be in. I am looking for a greenfield position which is paying pretty decent. These jobs are mainly with the financial institutions which I am not able to secure interviews with. Any points about the approaches I need to take to get into them?

Well, I secured an interview with a UK bank. It looks like the process starts with a test. And the consultant says the process could take 2weeks to one month. Anyone has gone through the same situation? I personally dont like the idea of a test. Also I think 1 month for an interview process is quiet long. Hopefully things will work out.

If you're new in UK I recommend you join a small low profile company, Get into your job, Start making connections, Learn about job market and find the "dream job", Walk before Run approach works always.
Good luck man.

Thanks mate. I am already in a contract and I can get into the company if I want. However, I wouldn't like to do that as the reason for me in the UK is the banking domain. Lets hope for the best.

Well, I know the situation is not ideal. In fact I took almost a month to get my first contract. However at this point I have a fair number of contacts from where I can almost certainly secure a contract. I believe if your rates are sub 500 there are a good number of contracts in the market.
My issue is the banking domain. Its quiet tricky to get attention from a banking company. I think lack of financial experience in my CV is the main problem. Anyway, I will get the test on friday and let us see how it goes (They said it will be a coding exercise).

I have been looking for a C++ developer job in the finance sector too for a few months now but with no luck. I have been able to secure a few f2f interviews but couldn't nail them. I feel that it helps if your CV contains a few buzz words like real time development and some relevent finance knowledge should also help.
Scott you have posted that you have a few contacts to get into a C++ contract. It would be very helpful if u could share them with me. The job search has been a long and frustrating experience for me and I can certainly use some help. Please check ur pm for my email id.
