So that we, as British citizens, may enjoy the same travel rights and priviledges that our government extends to all other EU citizens and their families regardless of immigration status or nationality.

VISAS ISSUED FREE OF CHARGE - NO UNDUE FORMALITY IN APPLICATION OR PROCESSING - NO DISCLOSURE OF PRIVATE DATA

Previous signatories under the gopetition site, please resign this Government sponsored petition site, you will be guaranteed an official response from No.10 if you do so.

Visa national persons married to EU member state citizens still need a visa to enter the United Kingdom as a tourist. And in all cases, the application may be scrutinised if there is suspicion that the marriage is bogus.

However, partners of other EU member state citizens are legally entitled to the 'visa' without cost, undue formality, or procedure. Proof of marriage, a copy of EU spouse passport, and the completion of a standardised 2-page application form is the usual operating procedure by EU Embassies throughout the world for visits to Europe (except the UK).

We, as British citizens are astonished that we are not extended the same level of respect for our spouse's, that is provided for, to citizens of other European states. However, the reason becomes clear when we consider that all other European citizens and their families are protected under the 'Freedom of Movement' treaty.

For all intents and purposes, the UK should not be regarded as an EU country in matters concerning family rights and freedom of movement. In my opinion, it is demonstrably evident that the expatriate British and their families are not welcome to the UK (or let me qualify this to avoid innuendo of bogus marriage motive - expat British that are; self-sufficient, widely-travelled, legally resident overseas, white anglo-saxon, and are happily married)
