UK spouse visa - additional documents requested in China

Hi all.

Please be aware that, in addition to the documents required globally for settlement entry clearance visa, the visa centre in Beijing requested that my spouse submit:

- 1 original copy of Form SU07/01 (Sponsorship undertaking)
- 1 original copy of my spouse's Hukou Ben

Due to the fact that we did not want to rebook our appointment, we refused to submit these documents and there was no problem with our application. However, it might be worth preparing these, even though they are not a legal requirement, to avoid the uncertainty that we went through while waiting for the processing of our application.

Clearly the VAC, a private agency working on behalf of the UK visa post has made an error in requesting the SU07 for this category of visa.I cannot comment on the other item as I have no idea what it is other than to say it is not a mandatory instrument.

Please do not suggest that ohers to prepare these documents as that is a misdirection and a waste of time.
